Injected Damp Course and Replastering -
Redecoration: Any permanent redecoration of all walls treated, such as the application of wallpapers or standard paint coverings, should not take place until the plaster and the walls have dried out thoroughly. This may take some time - One month for each inch (25mm) thickness of structural wall (a possible minimum period of up to 9 - 12 months from initial DPC works). The drying period is also affected by internal and external environmental conditions.
One thin layer of Micro porous, vapour permeable paint only is to be used during the minimum 9/12 month drying period, after approximately six to eight weeks as a temporary redecoration method.
We recommend:
Dulux super matt - Non vinyl, Crown cover matt - Non vinyl, Permaglaze highopacity emulsion or Leyland super matt - non vinyl.
For the supply of this paint contact Tim Batson of Hemel Colour supplies on 01442 231261. Or browse the internet or yellow pages for another outlet of your choice.
Impervious wall coverings must not be used until all walls have dried out completely (1/2 years)
Impervious wall coverings would include such items as -
Tiling or wall paper of any type
Vinyl papers
Vinyl emulsion paint
Oil bound paints
Timber and other forms of ‘direct contact’ cladding
Redecoration carried out within the 9/12 month drying period using impervious wall coverings or paint will cause decorative finishes to bubble when residual moisture is prevented from dispersing, and may also cause the new plaster to lose key.
No liability can be accepted for any residual moisture or defective plasterwork/decorations due to incorrect redecoration prior to complete drying out of treated areas.
Tanking (CDM) -
Redecoration: Within a few days. The only wet work is usually the final skim coat of plaster, once this is dry you can decorate.
Putting up fixings on a wall treated with Tanking:
Fixing of heavy items i.e. Radiators, shelving, cupboards etc.-
1.Cut a slot in the plasterboard the size of the timber batten care should be taken not to puncture the CDM membrane.
2.Drill a 10mm hole through the CDM membrane.
3.Put mastic under the head of the brick plug (specialist brick plug supplied by us) and hammer home into the hole.
4.Screw the timber batten to the specialist brick plugs.
5.Fix the radiator bracket, shelving, cupboards etc. to the timber batten.
6.Care should be taken not to puncture the CDM membrane with the screws.
